Dimitrios Alexiadis is an emerging filmmaker raised in the rural Alaskan town of Bethel, now residing in Anchorage. His artistic journey began as a young actor in the community theater in Bethel; from there he moved to drawing lessons, piano lessons and saxophone lessons, more theater and later musical theater. At 11 his mother gave him his first camcorder, which he proceeded to use to film spoof skits of the Matrix. During his early years Dimitrios found inspiration in his travels, the remote gritty life of rural Alaska, and finding brevity in the complexity of growing up. After high school Dimitrios spent his first year in College in the Bronx attending a Catholic engineering college, upon his return to Alaska, his journey led to an unexpected and transformative experience. The early 2010s marked a turning point in Dimitrios’ life, culminating in a 2 year sentence. His release in 2015 became a moment of personal transformation for him, sparking in him the desire to change for the better and to play a more meaningful role in his community. After reintegrating into the Anchorage community Dimitrios was captivated by the success of local artists, and reminded of the joy of creating. Witnessing shared vulnerability, rawness, and humanity struck Dimitrios as an opportunity to document intimate moments, to remember, and to cherish for years to come.
